Learning about Minerals is fun

Mineral Properties

The mineral's properties are luster, streak, hardness and cleavage. Luster tells us either it's metallic or non-metallic. Streak tells us if its either color or colorless. Hardness use to tell the how hard the mineral is. Cleavage    tells us if the mineral is broken evenly or unevenly.

Reflection
1. What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
The most thing I enjoyed about this lab was finding the mineral's properties because I before I didn't knew alot about minerals.

2.What was most challenging for you during this project and why?
The most challenging part for me was hypothesis. Because when my partner was doing that part I was little behind so I had to catch up.

3. What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
The new skills I have learned how to find the properties of minerals by using the chart properties common minerals.

4. Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work? Explain.
I wish we all should have done the lab earlier so Miss . Kara she shouldn't not have struggle checking our labs while she having a baby.

Lithosphere Layer

Activities: Brainpop video, Music Video
Topics: Seismic Wave Rap, Plate tectonics

Seismic Wave Rap Video

Summary

The rap video was about waves which cause the earthquake. There are 3 types of waves. Primary waves are the fastest waves which can move through gas, solid and liquid. Secondary waves travels side by side and they can just move through the solid. Surface waves lowest waves travel through the earth surface and they are most dangerous waves.

Plate Tectonic Brain POP Video

Summary

In the video they showed that once all the continents were together called Pangea. After one hundreds million years ago the continents they start separated into different continents. When plates move the continents move along with them. The volcanoes, earthquakes, mountains and trencher are all cause by the movement of the plate boundaries. There are three types of boundaries. Divergent boundary when plates move apart. Convergent boundary when plates move toward each other. Tranform boundary when plates the slide each other.

Boom Earthquake Rap

Summary
The rap is about what cause the earthquake and tsunami. How does the trenchers, rift valley, mountains created. There are three types of boundaries that cause and create all those things. Divergent boundary plates move apart which form the rift valleys, mid oceanic ridges. Convergent boundary plates come toward each other. They cause the earthquakes, volcanoes. They also form the subduction zone or continental collide were oceanic crust goes under the continental crust which creates the large mountain ranges like Himalayas. Transform boundary or fault plates slide each other. They cause the earthquake and tsunami. Tsunami happens when plates under the ocean creates a waves by sliding each other. Like in Japan.

Critical Thinking Question

Do you agree with the theory of plate tectonics? Why or why not?
I agree with the theory of plate tectonics that plates are divided into pieces. The plates the move a few centimeters every year. The scientists have proved that by measured it every year. All earthquakes and tsunamis they also cause by the movement of tectonic plates.

Reflection

1.What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
The most I enjoyed was the making Rap song about the earthquake. Because it was fun working with my Partner Abdoul.

2. What was most challenging for you during this project and why?
The most challenging was to write a script about the rap. Because we didn't had beat that could go with lyrics.

3. What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
I learned how to write a script for a rap and also learned how to use a garage band.

4. Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work? Explain.
I should have done better if I shouldn't waste time on working rap. I thought I would have enough time to do it. And I wasn't prepared for the presentation I thought I have everything I have present but at end I lost my handouts and some stuff :|.

Tides is the water level ocean. There are two types of tides spring and neap tide. High tide is when the water level of ocean is very high and very low. Neap tide is when the water level of ocean equal. Tides are caused by the gravity and lunar revolution. During spring tide the phase of the moon is 1st or 3rd quarter and sun, earth, moon they are in same line. During neap tide phase of the moon is new or full and the sun, moon, earth they are in right angle L shape.Tide happens two times a day.

How is earth affected by movement?

The earth is affected by its movement. Earth rotate on its axis in 24 hours. The rotation of earth  cause day and night. Earths revolves are around the sun it takes 365 or 366 days to complete the revolution. The earth revolution causes the seasons. There are for 4 seasons winter, summer, fall and spring. And spring and neap tides also caused by the earth movement.

The most I enjoy was working with group and because we guys had fun while making video.

2. What was the most challenging for you during this project and why?

For me most challenging was making pictures for the project because I am not good at drawing pictures.

3. What new skills did you learn from doing this project?

I learned that working as a group is better then working alone.

4. Is there anything that you could have done to improve any of your work? Explain.

I should improve my pictures that I used in video  and also I should correct my mistakes that I narrated in  video.

NEOGENE

summary

The Neogene time period was time of big change for earth. The climate changed. IT became cooler and drier . Grass Lands replaced forests so off course it was big change for animals to. They had to adopt the change or die.

Reflection

The most I enjoyed about was learning who the world changes by the time. The most challenging about this project was for to me finding more pictures about neogene because the most pictures i found was not related to the topic. I think I should add more pictures in my slideshow because there are not enough pictures so the viewer i can't understand what's happening. Things I learned from this project was who the new species created. Who the world changed.
